In Homers version of Iliad?

In Homer’s version of the Iliad, Achilles and Priam cry together over the sad situation of a father losing a son. In the film version, Achilles cries not with Priam, but outside and alone as he kneels before the body of Hector. What do you think each artist is trying to emphasize in their versions of the scene?
