Worried about my step-mom's brother?

We just got a call here late at night and apparently he was rushed to a country hospital and had a fever of 105 degrees. My step-mom said he was delirious and couldn't remember his name. Do you think this is something that could be treated easily? My step-mom has been through a lot with having cancer and she doesn't need this **** to come up.
