All these people who believe in God, what proof do they have?

I genuinely cannot understand why people have an undying belief in God when we have man's inhumanity to man. Can anyone tell me where is this proof that gives them this blind faith - whatever their religious beliefs. I once did believe - but, not any longer in this mad, cruel, world.
