What can i put on my walls to stop damp and mould coming through?

Every winter i have the same problem in 3 of my rooms. I get mould coming through. I try to ventilate the rooms, but it is difficult when its so cold! I am fed up decorating and need to know what i can put on the bare walls to stop this coming through time and time again. thank you
